margarks: After glow?

Continued from here.

Cool air rushed over Wesley's form and made him shiver. He blinked sleepy eyes back open and searched the darkened room for Giles as he pulled the covers back up. "Love? Come back to bed." Wesley called softly.

"At the current rate you'll probably get to enjoy fucking like that again tomorrow." Giles heard himself and grimaced. "Sorry."

Wesley nearly cringed at Giles' tactless words. It wasn't that he was opposed to the wording, only that he sounded so harsh and... unfamiliar. "Why don't we get some sleep, love? Perhaps it's just been an overly long day for the both of us?"

"Perhaps," Giles conceded, though he hardly thought his sexual behaviour of late could simply be chalked up to a long day.

He pulled Wesley closer to him, wanting the warmth of his body, his presence. He felt . . . cold.

Wesley curved his body around Giles, glad that their conversation didn't seem to have caused much damage. "Don't think on it any more, love. Things will look better in the morning." Wesley assured.

Giles did little more then squeeze Wesley in response. He hoped the man was right.

It'd been quiet for a time when Giles said, "Wes?"

"Mmmm?" Wesley murmured more than half asleep. Without thinking he patted Giles' chest comfortingly and pressed closer before falling into a deeper slumber.

Giles chest heaved with a small sigh. It was clear his query was going to have to wait until morning. He only wished sleep would come as easy to him as it had Wesley, however, he still felt wide awake.

Wesley fidgeted in his sleep. His dreams were uneasy and confusing and he shifted to seek more warmth.

Giles' slumber was little better. It felt like he'd only just drifted off when a piercing wail sounded from somewhere below. It took his sleep befuddled mind a few moments to place it.

"Connor," he muttered in realization, his face half buried into the pillow.

"I'm sorry. Go back to sleep, Rupert, I'll take care of him." Wesley murmured as he threw the covers off and stepped from the bed. He reached for a robe then hurried down the steps.
